Class Overview:
Objective: Focus on practical note-taking using educational TED-Ed videos and learner-friendly articles.
Tools Needed: Notebook and writing utensil.
Note-Taking Styles: Key Word Outlines, Lists, Outlines, Concept Maps, Cornell Notes, Sketch Notes
Class Structure:
Review & Tips (10 minutes):
Overview of all note-taking styles (list, outline, concept maps, keyword outlines, and Cornell Notes).
In-depth discussion on the style of the day.
Educational Article Reading (15-20 minutes):
Students and teacher take notes together.
Followed by a 5-minute discussion and comparison of notes.
Educational TED-Ed Video (5-10 minutes):
Note-taking session during the video.
Followed by a 5-minute discussion and comparison of notes.
Wrap-Up & Discussion (5 minutes):
Summary and final discussions as time allows.
Learning Process:
Repetition and Variety: Styles will rotate with new videos and readings after the sixth meeting. Sessions can end or restart based on student demand.
Flexible Enrollment: Students can join or leave the class as needed.
Practical Application: Continued practice and comparing notes with the teacher and peers will help students identify key elements to include in their notes and find a style that works best for them.
