Join our ongoing class and become proficient in various note-taking styles to enhance your learning experience.

Class Overview:

  • Objective: Focus on practical note-taking using educational TED-Ed videos and learner-friendly articles.

  • Tools Needed: Notebook and writing utensil.

  • Note-Taking Styles: Key Word Outlines, Lists, Outlines, Concept Maps, Cornell Notes, Sketch Notes

Class Structure:

  1. Review & Tips (10 minutes):

    • Overview of all note-taking styles (list, outline, concept maps, keyword outlines, and Cornell Notes).

    • In-depth discussion on the style of the day.

  2. Educational Article Reading (15-20 minutes):

    • Students and teacher take notes together.

    • Followed by a 5-minute discussion and comparison of notes.

  3. Educational TED-Ed Video (5-10 minutes):

    • Note-taking session during the video.

    • Followed by a 5-minute discussion and comparison of notes.

  4. Wrap-Up & Discussion (5 minutes):

    • Summary and final discussions as time allows.

Learning Process:

  • Repetition and Variety: Styles will rotate with new videos and readings after the sixth meeting. Sessions can end or restart based on student demand.

  • Flexible Enrollment: Students can join or leave the class as needed.

  • Practical Application: Continued practice and comparing notes with the teacher and peers will help students identify key elements to include in their notes and find a style that works best for them.

  • Hands-On Practice: Emphasis on practical note-taking during live sessions.

  • Comparison & Learning: Compare notes with peers and instructors to ensure important information is captured.

  • Minimal Prep: Walk into sessions prepared with just a notebook and pen. No need for external resources or account logins.
